    1. **ARC provided by the Author via Never Too Old For Y.A. & N.A. Books **4.5/5 starsThe lush and wondrous setting literally springs to life off the pages!! The main character, Solena had just been named 'healer' from her Granpeer, the Prophet, who is slowly dying. Solena must venture off to forbidden lands, which are controlled by soldiers, to find a specific herb to heal her dying grandpeerThe Language of Souls is a short but captivating story. It's packed with romance, and action. I absolute [...]

    2. Wow, what a sweet story. Slightly reminiscent of Dear Enemy but unique in and of it's own right. For a novella to bring about that much change in fate and emotion in so few pages, it deserves to be applauded. I was quite glad.Solena, a young orphaned girl raised by the High Prophet of her people, is known for having a generous heart along with her healing hands-- at times being generous to a fault. When she convinces her best friend's brother-in-law, an expectant father, to take her on his peril [...]

    3. This is the second book I've read by this author and I enjoyed it. While I would have liked a little more depth to the book, it was a short read so I can't really hold that against the story. It was interesting and unique. I liked how the MC was a healer and how she was selfless and did something extreme to save someone.A good read.

    4. I can't imagine anything more challenging for a writer than to create a fully-realized story, complete with world-building, emotional drama, conflict, symbolism, romance and wonderful characters, and pack all of that into 76 pages. I consider most "quickie" stories an amuse bouchemething quick and tasty, but not a full meal. Usually when I finish a short story I am craving more, feeling somewhat gypped by the length of the novel. The Language Of Souls by Lena Goldfinch is short, sweet, romantic a [...]

    5. The Language of Souls is an enchanting little novella. I was immediately drawn in by the fascinating world in which Solena lives. As Solena sets out on her quest to find the herbs needed to save her grandfather, I was continually impressed with her courage and kindness. She is an amazing character that I couldn’t help but love and admire. When Rundan came into the picture I was extremely pleased with the direction the author took the plot. I feel like the entire story played out perfectly. The [...]

    6. This moving and compelling romance will take you to another time and place. Goldfinch crafts a beautiful narrative!

Solena loves her Grandfather he has raised her since she was a little girl and right now he is dying from a terrible long disease which can only be cured with a special hreb. Unfortunately, their is none left and the only way for Solena to get more is to journey [...]

    8. My Review:So, The Language of Souls, is a little gem of a novella. It's not the full out length of a book, but it is doesn't need to be. This novella has so much to it. It is heart-warming, intense, complex, and a really fast pace read. And overall, despite the setting, which is not light hearted, it was really adorable, because the main characters were such lovely people. It felt like a fairy tale. The world building in this novella is so impressive. I haven't read too many novella's so I always [...]

    9. Solena has just been named healer from her Grandpeer, the Prophet. He is slowly dying from a lung disease and desperately needs an herb to extend his life. So when a father-to-be needs to journey for a votif for his newborn child, Solena offers to go along and help. Selecting a votif is a very big deal. The votif is kept with the person their whole life; it is filled with their life embers. When he finds the perfect votif, Solena announces to him that she is not returning until she gets the herb [...]

    10. The Language of Souls is an extraordinary journey of one young woman whose unwavering courage brought her the most precious treasure that she could have ever imagined. It is a tale of one whose deeply felt duty and love drove to her to look beyond her fears and delivered her into an unspeakable destiny that she never saw coming or even dared dream about. She found the missing part of herself that even she was not aware that her heart was longing for.Solena is driven by her adopted grandfather’ [...]

    11. Review originally featured on Bookluvrs HavenThis is a beautiful tale of two young people that do not fit the mold of their very different societies, who meet through the most unromantic of circumstances.Solena is brave, reckless and will do anything to help her ailing adoptive grandfather. Knowing he doesn't have much time left, she embarks on a mission to gather herbs she needs in order to brew a concoction her grandfather so desperately needs in order to survive. Predictably, once in enemy te [...]

But for Solena, this wasn’t the only love she found as she comes into her own and no longer doubts her abilities and calling as a gifted healer in her land. Undertaking a dangerous journey to find a powerful healing plant, Solena is captured by a young soldier with issues of his to contend with. Rundan is the son of a ruthless warrior and [...]

    13. Solena is a gifted healer, who's only family is her adopted granfather, the villages prophet. She does something extremely dangerous and crosses the treacherous mountain path into a hostile territory to obtain an herb needed to help her grandfathers health. While there, she gets captured by the young soldier Rundan. He is the son of the army captain, yet can do nothing right in his father's eyes. 14. I was given my copy in exchange for an honest review, meeting the author in one of the discussion groups. I was expecting a light romance. In part that is what I got. I was able to read this in one night once I got to it in my reading lineup. However, this is a bit more than a "light romance."I would be interested in reading a second book to follow how the relationship continues and what becomes of Solena. This is a great stand alone, but would also make a great introduction to a series. The char [...]

    15. The Language of Souls was a quick and enjoyable romance novella. I devoured this treat in on sitting and enjoyed every page.Solena’s journey starts with a dangerous climb into the mountains, as she makes her way to a foreign land in search of healing herbs to save her grandfather. When she is caught trespassing and stealing, she is taken captive by Rundan, a soldier out on patrol. He brings her back to his father, the army commander, who orders Rundan to take Solena to the royal courts, where [...]

    16. This and my other reviews can be found at amethystbookwyrm/Solena needs a herb to heal her dying grandfather, the only family she has left, but that involves going into the neighbouring hostile country Oden. When she is captured by a young solider and thought to be a spy she realises how much danger she is in. Rundan has always struggled to please his father, the army commander, but when he orders Rundan to take the young trespasser to the royal courts to be executed, he is conflicted as he does [...]

    17. The Language of Souls is a YA Fantasy Romance Novella written by Lena Goldfinch. I read this as a R2R with We ♥ YA Books! As always, a special thank you to the mods and author for allowing me to participate.Short, Sweet and BeautifulThe Review:This incredibly sweet and romantic tale is about seventy or so pages long (on my Nook) and I thoroughly enjoyed every short moment of it. Solena journeys to hostile lands in search of an herb that will cure her grandfather’s cough and while there, meet [...]

    18. 3.5 starsReview originally posted on i blog 4 books (3/10/14): iblog4books/2014/I've enjoyed seeing some of Lena Goldfinch's beautiful covers and am now diving into her books! The Language of Souls is a YA fantasy romance novella that takes readers on an adventure. Rundan and Solena should be enemies but despite their inability to communicate with each other, they become unlikely allies, sacrificing everything for each other.Lena does a great job of introducing this new world to the readers. I h [...]

    19. This novella has left me speechless. Lena Goldfinch has changed my aspect towards love. I enjoyed reading Aire very much and I enjoyed reading this book even more. First of all the cover is beautiful and the title is totally appropriate. Two strangers belonging to foreign lands not knowing each others language yet care for each other. She is a healer, a captive of the soldier whom she's taking care of. She gave away her embers because she couldn't bear to see him dying. And he being a soldier ca [...]

    20. I normally don’t enjoy reading novellas as I find that they aren’t long enough to really get into, but this particular story had me engaged from the first page. This was a very Romeo and Juliet-esque romance where love triumphs across cultural and language boundaries, but at the same time, all characters live to bask in their love. The story can be likened to many societal animosities found in the world today and helps to illustrate the fact that not everyone within those societies agrees th [...]

    21. 'The Language of Souls' ist eine süße, kleine Fantasy-Lovestory. Dab [...]

    22. This was a very sweet read, and I was sorry when I swiped over the last page. The story is a journey of two people from very different worlds (or tribes) who met, couldn’t understand each other’s language, but learnt to do so by gestures (and the language of their hearts and souls. It was beautiful!), and they ended up discovering they were kindred spirits after all.It was fascinating and dreamy to follow Solena and Rundan. There was never a dull moment with these two! They couldn’t have be [...]

    23. I received this book in exchange for an honest review. In this story we meet Solena who lives with her grandfather, who is a great healer and also like the leader of the people. Solena has the gift of healing as well. Her Grandfather is a sick man, and when one of her people are going to look for a gift for his new baby, Solena wants to go to. But it means going into territory that belongs to a different race of people. Here she is captured by a Soldier-Rundan. Who takes her back to there camp. [...]

    24. This tells the story of a young girl who ventures into a hostile country to fetch a herb to heal her grandfather. While there, she is captured by an enemy soldier and the story deals with their relationship and journey. I really enjoyed the story and the world building is really well done. There are only a few characters here, but they are well developed and quite believable. It is really a good blend of romance and fantasy. reminded me of novels like Graceling. I just wish it was a full novel b [...]

    25. THE LANGUAGE OF SOULS was an entertaining, fast-paced read that kept me reading all day! I loved the characters which were Solena and Rundan (both the main protagonist) where they try to understand each other as they both speak a different language altogether - finally things start to become a little interesting I thought it was really creative on how the story was set in and including the author's fluid and easy-going writing, Goldfinch has progressed the novel's characters by developing them i [...]

    26. it's a really interesting first setting of world & character buildingd I really thought it was interesting in the beginning of the exchanges between Solena and Rundan because they didn't speak the same language, so the first few chapters are entirely without any dialogue other than inner dialogue. But, I needed more. The love felt pretty forced and rushed. It's a great intro, and a series I would read - if I could get a full length book out of it and more building of the world and their inter [...]

    27. It must be cool to have healing abilities, I mean no one would ever get sick. But one day it could fail and you would have Togo get another medicine. That is exactly what Solena had to do in the story. Until she gets caught by Rundan, a scout for his fathers army. Rundan having a messed up father and all decides that he can't take her to the city palace. During his decision Rundan gets Solena caught by one of his fathers soldiers and himself hurt and quickly approaching death. Votifs are wonderf [...]

    28. I really enjoyed this book. It kind of felt like stockholm syndrome in medieval times. Lena goldfinch writes a flowing narrative from two pov's that whisks you away to a world where a romeo and juliet like relationship struggles and develops before your eyes. I have to say that the book moves quickly and doesnt leave you bored or skipping ahead to make it through. It is a quick read and great for a summer afternoon!

    29. Firstly id like to thank Lena Goldfinch for giving me this novella in exchange for an honest review. This is the 2nd work ive read of Lena's and again I must comment on the great cover :DI really did like this novella the only reason i gave it 3.5 stars instead of 4 is that i wished it was longer. I know its a novella and im being selfish but again i would have loved a little more background on the characters like why did solena's mother leave her and perhaps an epilogue because i LOVE epilogues, [...]

    30. I really liked the premise of this novella. But for me it was too short. I believe there could have been more added or details included to make it a little less rushed. Don't get me wrong, I loved the story line of a female healer risking her life to safe her substitute family and the romance that evolves between Solena and the soldier Rundan. The description of her land, the diction made specifically for this world and customs really paint a picture of the world she created and transports you t [...]
